Black and White worked into

I wanted to work into a black and white image again without adding colour into it. I really like this piece and although i tried not to add any colour i felt it really needed something more so that is why i added the red to the tongue.

Black and white worked into

I originally was just going to work into this image with grayscale tones but as i worked into it more and more i felt it needed colour so i only used colour for the detail work and i am very happy with the outcome.

I still want to do a black and white only piece but i felt this image needed colour to make it work.

I again experimented with different brushes forcing me to find new techniques and i am very happy with how the outline has worked although not neat i think it still works.

BAKEA!

Whilst looking through blogs and browsing through the internet i cam across artist BAKEA!

As i am working into actual photographs i realised it is similar to some of Bakea's work.Although im not 100% weather some are photographs worked into or paintings either way i really like how well the characters fit in with the piece and especially the facial expressions on the characters. The colours used play a massive part in the feeling i get from the illustrations also helping things really fit into the one image.

I will take alot from the work of Bakea which will really help my own work progress the attention to detail is fantastic and that is something i will try to apply more in my work.

Different brushes

I have just ben experimenting with different brushes. This character was created using a brush which basically smudged a shape my aim was to try and create a character out of what ever shape the brush made when i had gone around the original picture.

This was just to again keep me out of my comfort zone and help me work with different shapes when creating characters.

I decided to use a multiple of brushes i would not normally use.

The original image has also had a filter applied.

Nose press silksworth skatepark illustration

I have worked into sections on the Bmx bike wheels also in this piece and not just the characters. I also experimented a little bit with different textured brushes in photoshop. Using bright bold colours also to make things stand out from the original photograph as much as possible. I am very happy with how the main character looks and how well the wheels stand out after i have worked into them.

Stair set!

Another still shot worked into using bright vibrant colours on photoshop. I am trying to experiment more and more with colours and working into surroundings such as the clouds and walls. I will be creating more of these as it pushes me t work with different shapes and sizes with my characters and using objects to create into characters.

Fish eye lens photo worked into

I decided to use a photo taken using a fisheye lens to work into. The lens captured alot more in the shot and made it slightly more difficult to get certain things to stand out due to the depth and amount of things in the image.

I experimented a little bit with different brushes with this attempt and is something i will be experimenting more with on my next piece.

Also i worked into the background a little more and did not worry too much about which way the line work was going especially with the aqua blue section and tried not to re-do parts so much.

I am happy with how it turned out although i still think it could be worked on further considering the amount of objects in the photo.

Friday, 8 March 2013

I have started to experiment with illustrations and linking it in with my business Reign55.
We stock Bmx,Skate and Scooter products so i decided to add some illustrations to shots we had of riders and the shop itself this being the first.

I started with just characters and i am now going to start adding to the surroundings more and add in more detail to each illustration as seen in the bottom picture.

3d character walk cycle

This is my first attempt at creating a walk cycle for a 3d character which went well but if id giving myself more time i know it could of been better. My time planning could of been better especially in the middle of this project as i would of liked more time altering little niggles especially with the head movement whilst my character is walking.

Character sheet

This is my character sheet which i wish id experimented a little more with as its a little simple looking but thats what we were told to keep it lean and simple so i guess i can make the next character that step better.

First 3d character rig

This is my first attempt at rigging a simple 3d character which I've knocked up. I would off liked to spend more time on it but don't have time as i need to crack on with other things but may come back to it to alter the pelvic controller to give the character more movement in the upper body.

E4 ident

A little bit late with posting this one up i know but here is my E4 ident.

Birthcard Aagje Oprins

I was mainly interested in this short animation for the characters involved and the movement. I think it shows you can get a personality across of a character without any facial expression and i do think this animation shows that. I also like the shapes used to create the characters and shape is something im trying to focus on and experiment with when drawing up characters.

Studio killers

I have decided to post up this video as i think it is a great example of animation fitting to music and setting the feel of a song. It also shows importance of camera moves including position and speed in which it needs to move. All this in mind the animation itself is very good and i can appreciate the difficulty in creating a successful music video.

Brock O' Lee

Whilst looking through short animations which were viewed on the berlin trip i came across this clip from peppermelon which i really enjoyed especially the character design and face animation.

pixilation

As part of the contextual studies module we watched a few examples of  a pixilation animation which is a technique in which film makers and animators take a sequence of frame by frame images of live action footage to create a there a bouts stop motion effect, this technique is very effective as it helps real life characters within films interact with stop motion characters.
This technique also creates a wierd and wonderful look to the animation, an example of this is the film 'The Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb'.

After watching a presentation about pixilation we were given the task of making our own pixilation short so here it is.
